31st January,1973 The keys to B-Block extension are handed over.
After 30 years of service to education, Mr. L.M. Moss retires as Chairman of the New Plymouth High Schools' Board of Governors. Spotswood College owes Mr. Moss a great debt for his outstanding efforts in the planning stage and in our early years.
The final part of the school's building programme has been approved in principle.
Our roll is expected to go beyond the 1400 in 1974.
A very successful Gala Day held.
The major production - Play "The Happiest Days of Your Life".
Annual South Island trip took place in the August holidays.
2nd-4th August: Cultural & debating trip to Tawa College. Tawa won the debate.
19th-22nd October: Clive Hamill, David Lobb and Ian McGibbon complete a marathon 76 hours of billards to raise $230 for the school gala day.
Music:Brass Band, Orchestra and Madrigal Singers all active. Mary Nation and Stephen Hutton selected for the National Secondary School's Orchestra.
Tramping Club had a very active year.
First XI Cricket played Freyberg HS at Pukekura Park, and Tawa College at Tawa.
