2024 (Year 65):
* The 1st March roll was 968.
* 17 Staff and students visited Spain from 28th January - 18th February.
* 15 students and 3 staff from Japan visited the College 18th - 22nd March.
* A karakia was held on Wednesday 7th February for the opening of the refurbished McPhail
Library that will now be the staffroom.
* The Athletics Championships were held at the TET Stadium in Inglewood on
Friday 1st March.
* New government announces delay to changes to the NCEA Levels 2 and 3 curriculum.
* The Taranaki Regional Council announced that from 1st May the child and youth bus
concessions would cease. For the previous year anyone aged between 13-24 travelled at
half-price. The fare would now be $2 each trip.
* Government cellphone ban during school hours became law on Monday29th April.
* On 24th April, ex-spotswoodian Andrew Needs (1975-1979) becomes the NZ High
Commissioner to Australia.
* On Wednesday 8th May the coalition government announced its new "Smarter lunches
in schools" programme to start in 2025.
* The Pink shirt day was held on Friday 17th May.
* The senior Ball was held at The Plymouth Hotel on Saturday 15th June. The theme was
"Vintage Hollywood".
* Monday 17th June. Sad news for the Alumni when we learnt of the passing of the College's
very first Head Girl in 1962 & 1963 Allison Muir (nee:Brunning).
* Thursday 18th July Rin Leadbetter and Kayden Rowe awarded a NPDC "Youth Award" at the
annual Citizen's Awards event.
* Monday 29th July, the Principal, staff and students from our sister school Hatsukaichi High
School (Japan) arrive for stay.
* Sunday 11th August: A Taranaki alt-rock band "The Mara" films the video of the song
"The Professor" at the College.
